It’s true that once I graduate I am going to have to reevaluate how I will continue to learn, in order to become a better professional and overall person. My thought process in designing my day is that a proper education is a combination of three different types of knowledge; professional knowledge, world knowledge, and personal knowledge. With that in mind here is what I plan to be a typical day post graduation.

6:00 am

Wake up

6:05 am

Go back to bed once I realize it is far too early and I need my beauty sleep

7:15am

Wake up. Part Two.

7:20am – 7:40am

While getting ready for the day I am going to listen to the audio book “Practicing the Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle. Basically this book is teaching one to live in the present and only think minimally of the past and future. There is a power to understanding and working toward the now, and having this book on repeat is a good way to never forget that.

7:45am – 8:30am

During my commute to work listen to the Ted Talks podcast, in order to start my learning process with a solid mix of all three areas of knowledge. This podcast has a wide range of topics to ignite ideas first thing in the morning.

8:30am – 12:00pm

Work my wonderful job

12:00pm – 12:30pm

During my half hour lunch it’ll be great to utilize my time by scanning articles located on BBC.com and reading any that perk my interest. It’s important to look at all news from across the world, especially news about the US that comes from an outside source. I believe it promotes a less biased and more informed reading of the news.

12:30pm- 5:00pm

Continue working my wonderful job

5:00pm – 6:30pm

While navigating the fabulous LA traffic I will utilize the time by listening to another podcast, this time The Art of Manliness Podcast, which usually has a different guest on every show that is promoting their book, so this allows me the option to purchase that book if I’m really feeling what they’re talking about. Otherwise I’ll probably just listen to music in order to unwind from another day at the office.

6:30pm – 9:00pm

Hopefully I utilize this time to workout, enjoy some hobbies, call my mom, and eat dinner.

9:00pm – 10:00pm

My last feed of information is going to come from Reddit, where I have my own tailored lists regarding any subject I want to be subscribed to, curated by people just like me. I choose to get my information here, because I think A) It allows me to sift through a ton of articles and data relatively quickly, and B) Reading comments and people’s reactions to different things allows me to get a better understanding of what actual people think about it. While it can be a bit biased at times, I think the source is generally great for learning.

10:30pm

Go to bed, because I love to sleep, but make sure to set my alarm for 6 am, because I know tomorrow will be the day I get up early.

So there you have it. A day in the life of this soon to be professional. I hope it allows you to think about where you are getting your information from and what you want to continue to strive for.
